In 79 a.d., at the beginning of the age of Imperial Rome a violent eruption of the Vesuvius buried the town of Pompei under ash and lapilli killing people in their sleep or while trying to run away.
The town's activities, daily life...all has been crystallized at the moment of the eruption and still shows the panic felt by the inhabitants of Pompei.
While walking in Pompei we can still imagine the last moments of life of the lively town, people trying to run away from death, the homes suddenly abandoned, and the daily life that made Pompei famous before August 24th of 19 centuries ago.
We will visit the rich homes of nobles, painted with frescos; public and religious buildings, shops, restaurants, the forum...and feel that life has stopped at that very moment, as in a photograph.

We will depart from Rome and drive to Naples where we will stop for a short panoramic view of the city and proceed to Pompei.
On the way we will stop at a famous traditional cameo and coral jewelry maker and then go to a restaurant for lunch.
After lunch we will visit Pompei: the forum, the heart of the towns activities and gathering place for the people of that time.In this area, once surrounded by columns and statues, there used to be all most important public buildings, such as the Basilica, the government buildings, the temples.
Pompei was a very religious town, and temples are spread all over the area and small altars can be found in many small residences, some of which are richly decorated with mosaics and frescoes.
Pompei was also a very lively and commercial town and its activities can be seen "frozen" at the time of the eruption.
Pompei can get very hot in Summer, we really recommend to bring with you sunscreen lotion, water, sun glasses, cap.
We also recommend to wear comfortable walking shoes...and don't forget to bring a camera with you!
